چکیده

As presented in previous editions, our method describes the three-dimensional reconstruction of the internal and external surfaces of the human's left ventricle from medical data. The reconstruction is a first process inside a complete VR application that will serve as an important diagnosis tool for hospitals. The segmentation process has been thoroughly refined in order to provide a robust border detection. Edges must be labeled as internal or external borders in order to allow the posterior dynamic method to perform the 3D reconstruction of the surfaces. The filtering process is based on the Maximum-Likelihood Classification approach. The algorithm rewards an edge depending on its probability to be a surface border. Probabilities are derived from several key characteristics.

Vertical Coherence Applied to Spect Imagery in the 3D Reconstruction of the Left Ventricle

As we already presented in the previous edition of the conference, our algorithm uses SPECT data to automatically recover the three-dimensional shape of the human's left ventricle. The reconstruction of both the internal and external surfaces, allowed us to present the synthetic cardiac cycle for an actual patient and derive its associated ejection fraction estimation. The segmentation module h...

3D Reconstruction Using Cubic Bezier Spline Curves and Active Contours (Case Study)

Introduction 3D reconstruction of an object from its 2D cross-sections (slices) has many applications in different fields of sciences such as medical physics and biomedical engineering. In order to perform 3D reconstruction, at first, desired boundaries at each slice are detected and then using a correspondence between points of successive slices surface of desired object is reconstructed. Mate...

A New Approach for Quantitative Evaluation of Reconstruction Algorithms in SPECT

ABTRACT Background: In nuclear medicine, phantoms are mainly used to evaluate the overall performance of the imaging systems and practically there is no phantom exclusively designed for the evaluation of the software performance.  In this study the Hoffman brain phantom was used for quantitative evaluation of reconstruction techniques. The phantom is modified to acquire t...

3D Mouse Left Ventricle Reconstruction using Sparse MR Images with Arbitrary Orientations

This paper presents a framework for 3D left ventricle reconstruction using sparse magnetic resonance (MR) images with different orientations. Due to the inadequate inter-slice resolution, both shortand long-axis cardiac MR images are commonly acquired to reveal the left ventricle shape and motion. The contours in these images show different profiles of left ventricle and contain its essential s...
